dark revenge chapter 6

MACKENZIE:

After all that we had a sleepover at my house. I am the school's queen bee so I have the biggest house obviously. I invited Natasha, CeCe, Cali, Kasey, Keira and Daphne. Cali seemed a bit weird. We got our own back. Kylie hurt Cali, Daphne and Keira. She had to pay.

We were all sitting in a circle in my room, our faces lit up by the soft glow of the lava lamp on my nightstand. I could feel the anticipation building in the air, the excitement of being together, of having something to do that would make us feel better, if only for a little while.

"Okay, so here's how we're going to play," I explained, my voice barely above a whisper. "I'll show you a photo of someone, and you have to decide if you'd smash them or pass on them." I reached into my top drawer and pulled out a stack of old magazines, flipping through them until I found the right photo. "First up is..." I hesitated for dramatic effect, "...Liam Payne."

The girls all screamed in delight, vying for the chance to be the one to make the call. "I'd smash him!" shouted Daphne. "No way!" argued Keira. "I'd totally pass on him," she said, making a face. "He's way too mainstream."

The rest of the girls laughed, shaking their heads in amusement. "Okay, okay," I said, trying to get the game back on track. "Next up is..." I hesitated, trying to decide which photo would provoke the most reaction. "...Justin Bieber."

This time, the room erupted in a cacophony of screams and shrieks. "Are you kidding me?!" demanded Kasey. "I'd smash him so hard!" Cali, on the other hand, looked unimpressed. "I'd totally pass," she said, rolling her eyes. "He's such a tool."

I glanced over at Natasha, who was deep in thought. "I don't know," she mused. "I mean, he's kind of hot in that douche-y way...I guess I'd smash him, but I wouldn't tell anyone." The rest of the girls giggled, clearly amused by her conflicted feelings.

Then I decided to show boys and girls from school, "How about Nadine?"

"Ew, pass!" Daphne shouted. "She's such a slut!" The others agreed, shuddering in disgust. "No way would I ever want to be associated with her," added Keira.

Cali seemed to perk up at this one. "Hmm, well, she's not my type or anything, but I guess I could see myself smashing her just to see what all the fuss is about." The others laughed, and I could see the amusement in her eyes. "But only once, and then I'd have to wash my hands!" she added quickly.

Natasha looked thoughtful. "I don't know...I mean, she's pretty and all, but she's just so...dramatic. I think I'd pass." The rest of the girls nodded in agreement. "She's just too much to handle," Kasey chimed in.

"What about David?" I said next.

"Oh, David..." Daphne sighed dreamily. "I'd smash him so hard..." She glanced over at Cali, who rolled her eyes. "No, really, he's just so...perfect. I mean, he's smart, funny, and he's a total hottie. He'd be amazing in bed." The others nodded in agreement, giggling.

"But," Keira added, "he's also really sweet and caring. I don't know if I'd want to smash him just for the sake of it. I mean, I'd totally date him if he asked me." The group fell silent for a moment, lost in their daydreams about David.

Natasha spoke up, her voice thoughtful. "I think I'd pass on him...for now, at least. I mean, he's great and everything, but I don't want to get attached to someone I might have to hurt. You know, with all the stuff we're doing to Kylie..." She trailed off, looking uncomfortable.

"Yeah," CeCe agreed. "It's kind of hard to play those games when you know what it's like to be on the receiving end." There was a moment of somber silence before Cali broke it with a laugh. "Well, at least we're all being honest about it," she said, shrugging. "Besides, who says we have to actually do anything about it? It's just a game, right?"

The others nodded in agreement, and the mood lightened again. Until Daphne decided to ask this.

"What about Kylie?" she asked.

Everyone in the room shifted uncomfortably. We'd hurt her. I mean I don't feel guilty but they might. It's a little bit awkward bringing up someone we just did THAT to. Kasey was the first to break the silence. "Um, I'd say she's more of a pass for me. She's a bit too much of a...well, you know..." The others nodded in agreement, looking a little guilty.

Daphne spoke up, her voice a little less confident than usual. "I don't know...I mean, she's really pretty and all, but after what we did...I don't think I could..." She trailed off, looking down at her hands.

Keira sighed heavily. "I'd have to say pass too. Not because she's not pretty or anything, but..." She glanced around the room, searching for the right words. "It just doesn't feel right, you know?" The others nodded, their expressions mirroring Keira's.

CeCe cleared her throat, trying to lighten the mood. "Well, at least we're all being honest with each other," she said, forcing a laugh. "I mean, it's not like we're gonna actually smash any of them or anything, right?" There was a brief moment of uncomfortable laughter before everyone returned to their previous conversation, avoiding any further mention of Kylie.

the rest of dark revenge

KYLIE: The movies had finished. We were going to kill Kasey. Alexis and I slipped out of the house, creeping silently through the darkened streets. The air was cold, and a light mist hung in the air, making everything feel eerie and surreal. We both shivered, but not from the cold. We were shaking with anticipation and fear. When we reached the big house on the hill, we circled around to the back, avoiding the glow of the security lights. Alexis had a set of lockpicks she'd stolen from her father's toolbox, and in no time at all, we were inside. The house was empty, as we'd expected. We crept through the darkness, our hearts pounding in our chests. Alexis led the way, her fingers finding their way along the wall, guiding us deeper into the house. We found Kasey's room easily enough, the door left ajar by her absent-minded parents. I could hear her breathing softly, a low rhythmic sound. Alexis paused for a moment, her hand trembling on the door handle. "Are you sur...
