KYLIE:
The movies had finished. We were going to kill Kasey.
Alexis and I slipped out of the house, creeping silently through the darkened streets. The air was cold, and a light mist hung in the air, making everything feel eerie and surreal. We both shivered, but not from the cold. We were shaking with anticipation and fear.
When we reached the big house on the hill, we circled around to the back, avoiding the glow of the security lights. Alexis had a set of lockpicks she'd stolen from her father's toolbox, and in no time at all, we were inside. The house was empty, as we'd expected.
We crept through the darkness, our hearts pounding in our chests. Alexis led the way, her fingers finding their way along the wall, guiding us deeper into the house. We found Kasey's room easily enough, the door left ajar by her absent-minded parents.
I could hear her breathing softly, a low rhythmic sound. Alexis paused for a moment, her hand trembling on the door handle. "Are you sure you want to do this?" she whispered.
"Yes," I replied, my voice steady. "We have to."
We burst into the room, and Kasey jumped, her eyes wide with shock and fear. "What the-?" she stammered.
Alexis didn't say a word. She grabbed Kasey's hair, yanking her head back, and then pressed the knife against her throat. Blood welled up, and Kasey tried to scream, but Alexis's hand clamped down tightly over her mouth.
I took a step forward, my hands trembling as I reached for the duct tape. I felt sick to my stomach, but I forced myself to continue. I wrapped it around Kasey's mouth and nose, sealing it tightly shut. She struggled against us, her body going limp as she tried to breathe through the tape. I could see the fear in her eyes, the knowledge that she was going to die.
Alexis nodded at me, her expression hard. We knew what we had to do. We dragged Kasey out of her bed and onto the floor, pushing her facedown onto the cold, hardwood. I grabbed one of her legs, feeling the smoothness of her skin beneath my fingers, and began to twist it, as if I were wringing out a towel. She screamed into the tape, her body jerking spasmodically.
Alexis knelt beside me, her knife still in hand. "I want you to watch this, Kasey," she whispered, her breath hot against the girl's ear. "I want you to feel everything." And with that, she plunged the knife into Kasey's back, just above her buttocks. Blood gushed out, soaking the carpet and my jeans. Kasey's body convulsed once more, and then went limp.
We stared down at her for a long moment, the silence deafening. Finally, Alexis turned to me. "Do you think they'll figure out it was us?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
I shrugged, my heart still racing. "Maybe. But it doesn't matter anymore, does it? We did it. We killed her. We can kill the others."
Alexis nodded, a twisted grin spreading across her face. "Yeah," she agreed. "We can kill them all."
Together, we stood up, wiping the blood from our hands on our jeans. We knew we had to hurry. We didn't want Kasey's parents to find her body. We carefully cleaned up the room, straightening her bed and tossing the bloody knife into her closet. Then, we slipped out of the house, our hearts still pounding with adrenaline.
As we walked back through the night, the weight of what we'd done settling heavily upon us, I felt a strange sense of relief wash over me. It was as if a burden had been lifted, and I couldn't help but wonder if Alexis felt the same way. We didn't speak, both lost in our own thoughts, but I knew that our friendship had changed forever.
CALI:
It was midnight, and my house was packed. People were dancing, drinking, and laughing. I'd spent weeks planning this party, making sure everything was perfect. But something was missing. Kasey wasn't here. It can't be a party without the full clique.
"Cali!" MacKenzie shouts to me, "Should we go to Kasey's house to see if she's there?" Her eyes are wide with concern, and I can see the worry etched into her features.
"Yeah, she should be okay," I replied.
So we walked to Kasey's house. It was only a few blocks away, but the farther we went, the more anxious I felt. MacKenzie kept shooting me nervous glances, and I could feel the weight of her hand in mine. We got to her house and knocked on the door, but there was no answer. I took out my phone and called her, but it went straight to voicemail.
"Maybe she's just asleep," I suggested, trying to sound more confident than I felt. We waited a few more minutes, but still no one answered the door. "Mac, do you want to go around back?" I asked, feeling a sense of dread settle in my stomach.
She nodded, her face pale. We walked around to the back of the house and saw the patio door was slightly ajar. I pushed it open and we crept inside. "Kasey?" I called out, my voice trembling. There was no answer. We made our way through the living room and into her bedroom. The room was empty, but there was blood on the floor and a trail leading out of the room.
My heart stopped. Something told me where that trail led. We followed it into her walk-in closet, and there she was. Kasey was lying on the floor, her eyes open and staring blankly at the ceiling. Her skin was pale and her body limp. Blood was pooling around her, staining the carpet.
"Oh my God," MacKenzie whispered, falling to her knees beside her friend. She reached out a trembling hand to touch Kasey's cheek, but drew back in horror. "No, no, this can't be happening."
I felt tears welling up in my eyes as I knelt down beside her. "Mac, I'm so sorry," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "I don't know what to do." I looked up at her, my heart breaking at the sight of her grief.
Outside, sirens were approaching. We didn't know who could have done this, but we both knew it had to be someone close to her. Someone she trusted. Someone from our group. The realization sent a chill down my spine.
KYLIE:
The next day, we were planning on killing Daphne. After what she did to me in that school bus... it can't be forgiven. She had put on her story that she was at home with her little sister Billie in the garden. Home alone.
I was going to do this on my own. I didn't want to involve Alexis this time. I wanted to do it all on my own from now on. I crept through the garden, my heart pounding in my chest. Daphne's house was just a few blocks away, but it felt like I was miles away from home. I took a deep breath, steadied myself, and knocked on the door. There was no answer. I knocked again, a little louder this time. Still nothing. I glanced around, feeling a sense of dread settle in my stomach.
Something didn't add up. Daphne had told me she was home alone with her little sister Billie. But where was she? I pushed the thought aside and went back to knocking on the door. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, I heard footsteps approaching from inside the house. The door opened a crack, and I saw Billie's little face peek out at me.
"Kylie?" she whispered, her big blue eyes filled with confusion. "What are you doing here?"
"Hey, Billie," I said, trying to sound calm. "Is your sister Daphne here? I need to talk to her."
Billie bit her lip, her expression growing more worried by the second. "Daphne went to the garden to get some flowers for Mom's birthday," she said, her voice trembling. "She told me not to leave the house, but I sneaked out to see what she was doing."
My heart sank. I didn't want to get Billie involved in this. But it was too late. As I looked over her shoulder, I saw Daphne in the garden, her back turned to us. I took a deep breath and pushed Billie gently back inside, closing the door behind her. She started to protest, but I put my finger to my lips, shushing her. Then, I crept around the side of the house and crouched down behind a bush.
I didn't want to hurt Daphne, not really. I just wanted her to pay for what she'd done to me. But seeing her there, so vulnerable, it was like everything else faded away. In that moment, all I could think about was making her suffer the way she had made me suffer.
I crept closer, my heart racing, my hands shaking. When I was close enough, I reached out and grabbed her by the hair, yanking her backward. She let out a scream, struggling against me. I could feel her hot breath on my face as she pleaded for mercy. But there was no mercy in me.
"Why did you do it?" I hissed, my voice raw with anger and pain. "Why did you make me go through all of that?" I tightened my grip on her hair, yanking her head back even further. She winced in pain, tears streaming down her face.
As if in a daze, I raised my hand, my fingers curled into a fist. I could feel the blood rushing to my knuckles, feel the anger coursing through my veins. Before I could stop myself, I brought my fist crashing down onto her face. There was a sickening crunch, and blood splattered across my hand. Daphne let out a gurgling sound, her body going limp.
As her lifeless body collapsed to the ground, I felt a rush of adrenaline and relief wash over me. It was done. She was gone. But just as I was about to turn away, I heard footsteps approaching from behind. Too late, I realized that Cali had seen everything.
Her eyes were wide with horror as she took in the scene before her. "Kylie... what have you done?" she whispered, her voice trembling. "Why...?"
I couldn't bring myself to look at her. I couldn't explain what had happened, why I had done it. All I could do was stand there, my hands shaking, my heart pounding in my chest. Cali's words echoed in my head, over and over again, like a cruel mockery of reality. I wanted to disappear, to be anywhere but here. But I knew that there was no escaping the consequences of my actions.
As Cali slowly backed away, her face pale with shock and disbelief, I felt a sense of finality settle over me. Everything had changed, and there was no going back. I had crossed a line.
CALI:
I saw Kylie killing one of my best friends. So I called the police. They arrived within minutes, sirens wailing in the distance. As they approached the house, they saw Kylie standing there, her hands covered in blood, a look of shock and horror on her face. They took her into custody immediately, not even waiting for her to respond to their questions. They handcuffed her roughly and led her away, her head bowed in defeat.
The police then called for an ambulance, and Daphne was rushed to the hospital. She survived, but she had suffered permanent damage to her facial nerves. The doctors said it would be a long road to recovery, and she might never look the same again.
Billie, who had witnessed the entire thing from the window, was taken to a safe house until her family could sort everything out. The media was swarming outside the house, and it was decided that she would be better off somewhere else while the investigation unfolded.
And me? I had to tell the full clique. It was the hardest thing I'd ever done. I sat them all down in the school cafeteria, and they all looked at me with varying degrees of shock, horror, and disbelief. As I recounted the events leading up to that night, my voice shook and tears streamed down my face. They were all so quiet, you could have heard a pin drop.
When I finished, they all just sat there, stunned. No one knew what to say. They looked at me, and they looked at each other, and they knew that things would never be the same again. They all started to ask questions, wanting to know how it had all gone so wrong, but I didn't have any answers. I just knew that we had all been swept up in something bigger than ourselves, and that there was no going back.
ALEXIS:
I can't believe Kylie was so stupid to get caught. And I can't believe they called the cops on her. I mean yeah, I was just using Kylie, but she was a pretty good friend. I needed to kill the rest at their sleepover.
So I drove to Natasha's house, where Natasha, CeCe, Keira, Cali and MacKenzie were and sat in the car. I needed to plan this.
This was going to have loads of steps and be the most brutal thing I'd ever do in my life.
1. I would start by drugging them with sleep drugs and taking them to the warehouse where they tortured Kylie and hold them hostage.
2. Then, I would force them to watch as I kill another one of them with brutal methods. I would make sure to record it all on camera.
3. Once they are all terrified and broken, I would reveal my master plan: I will post the videos online and threaten to kill more of them if their families don't pay me a ransom. This would spread fear throughout the school and the town, making me famous in a twisted sort of way.
I wouldn't get caught. I'd use a VPN and post it on an anonymous account. It would be perfect.
MACKENZIE:
We were at Natasha's house having a blast, then I saw this weird car pull up outside. I didn't want to say anything. Kylie was in jail so she couldn't kill us all like she probably did to Kasey or injure us severely like Daphne. We were safe. Until someone must've drugged our drinks. I watched them all pass out. First CeCe but she's always been weak so we didn't think much of it, then Natasha, then Keira, then Cali then me.
We woke up in the warehouse where we tortured Kylie, tied to chairs. Good thing I had a pen knife handy for emergencies. I started working on it, trying to get free. Then I heard a car pull up. It was Alexis. I didn't know what she was doing here, but I knew this was bad.
She walked in, dragging a terrified CeCe behind her. "Hello, girls. You all look so cozy here." She smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. "I'm here to have some fun, but first, I need to show you a little something." She grabbed a knife from her pocket, and I knew what was coming next.
Alexis walked over to Keira, her eyes cold and empty. Without hesitation, she slit Keira's throat, letting her blood pour onto the concrete floor. Keira's terrified screams echoed through the warehouse as she convulsed, choking on her own blood. It was the most brutal thing I'd ever seen in my life.
CeCe was pale as a ghost, her eyes wide with horror. "W-what are you doing?" she stammered, her voice barely audible over Keira's dying screams.
Alexis didn't even seem to hear her. She just kept on talking, her voice cold and emotionless. "I am showing you what will happen to all of you if you don't cooperate. Now, I want you to listen carefully. I'm going to kill another one of you, and I want you to watch. And this time, I'm going to film it. Understand?"
I could feel the bile rising in my throat as I forced myself to look at Keira's lifeless body. There was no way out of this. There was no hope. All I could do was wait for my turn to die.
Alexis walked over to CeCe, her eyes cold and calculating. She grabbed a metal pole from the floor, then pushed CeCe down onto her knees. "No, please," CeCe whimpered, her voice breaking. "Please don't do this."
But Alexis didn't listen. With a cruel twist, she drove the metal pole through CeCe's back, impaling her. CeCe let out a choked gurgle as she was skewered, blood pouring from her mouth and wound. Her body jerked violently before going limp.
I felt my stomach heave as I watched the life drain from CeCe's eyes. I wanted to close my own eyes, but I couldn't look away. Not now. Not when I knew this was only the beginning. Alexis stepped back, admiring her handiwork for a moment before turning back to me.
"Now, girls, let me tell you my plan," she said, her voice steady. "I'm going to post these videos online, of me killing your friends. And I'm going to keep doing it, until your families pay me a ransom. If they don't, I'll just keep killing you. And trust me, I won't get caught. I'll use a VPN and post it on an anonymous account. It'll be perfect."
I swallowed hard, my throat burning with fear and anger. I knew she was right. There was no way we could escape this. As she continued to talk about her plan, I slowly began to formulate one of my own. I'd have to wait for the right moment, but when it came, I would make sure she regretted ever coming here.
Alexis walked over to me, a satisfied smile playing at the corners of her mouth. "Now, I want you all to look at the camera," she said, nodding to the small video recorder on a tripod. "And say your names for the audience."
I forced myself to look at the camera, trying to keep the terror from my expression. "My name is Mackenzie," I whispered. "And I'm going to make sure you pay for this." I didn't know how, but I would find a way. So I used my pen knife to cut free. I pretended to be trapped again as Alexis made her way over to Natasha. Once she was focused on killing, I snuck behind her with my knife, grabbed her phone and stabbed her. Not so much as she would die, just so that she stops. Cali found sleeping drugs and drugged her and Natasha tied her up. We took her car and drove to the police. We had the videos for evidence.
We didn't know what would happen, but we had to try. The police took Alexis into custody and assured us that we would be safe. They even put us in a safe house until our families could be located. As we sat in the interrogation room, still shaken by the horror we had witnessed, we couldn't help but look at each other in disbelief. It was hard to believe that we had survived, that we had managed to outsmart Alexis. But we had, and now it was time to rebuild our lives.
It wasn't going to be easy, though. The memories of our friends' deaths would haunt us for the rest of our lives. But we had each other, and we were determined to make the most of the second chance we'd been given. We vowed to never forget them, and to live our lives in a way that would make them proud.
